CityHop 2011

CityHop is a cool, self-guided tour of downtown Columbus. It usually is primarily an effort to showcase residential buildings, but this year’s tour mixed in more architectural history, including some old banks, the COTA Headquarters and the building where Hustler magazine was started (who knew?). I hope they decide to keep the mix in future tours. The event also coincided with the Independent’s Day festival taking place on Gay Street, so all in all, it was an amazing day to be in downtown Columbus.

Here are a few of my shots from throughout the day … enjoy!

How would you reimagine Northwest Ohio?

When Heather and I were moving back to the Midwest, we considered a number of different options and talked to a lot of people (primarily through online channels) about how they liked where they lived. Although I had lived in Toledo for almost 10 years and love the town, it quickly became clear that Toledo wasn’t a good option for us at this point in our lives.

We had the chance to talk with the University of Toledo Alumni Magazine about the things that appealed to us in our search, and what Northwest Ohio might consider doing to tell a story that attracts young talent to the region. This video is part of that conversation.

What would you add? How do you think Northwest Ohio could tell a better story? What else can the region do to attract young professionals?
